the second attempt returns a 500 server error. Have you tried disabling your other plugins?

To narrow down the problem, I'd need to see the php error log.

Sorry for late reply, I don't have an IE7 installation at hand right now, could you tell me if this happens with the 2010 theme?

If yes:
Let me know and I'll have a good look

If not:
Something in the CSS of your theme is messing it up.

First off, I want to say thank you for the quick response!

No buddy press installed, its just a modification of the Twenty Ten theme with nothing crazy running.

I can't see anywhere that it says a specific file causing the problem, though you'll have to forgive me as I'm not familiar with firebug.

Here is a screenshot at the time of the error:
http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/8435/newbitmapimager.png

If it would help, the website where this is happening is:
http://demonsky.com/sc2/

Click on news or articles, and you'll see the widget.

Ahh, so when you said there was a conflict I went ahead and disabled every plugin, and it worked!

I tried each plugin, and the only one causing the problem was called:
Customize Your Community

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/customize-your-community/

Is there a simple way to resolve this conflict?

Thanks again, this is a great plugin!

When it hangs like that it's almost always a javascript error, either due to what was returned or a conflict with other code.

Which file was that error showing in FF (it'll say on the right of that error)?

Also, do you have buddypress? Remember that registrations is not currently supported for bp.

I have the latest version of Login With Ajax, Version 3.0b2. And the current version of wordpress, 3.0.1

Everything seems to work great with Login With Ajax, except for the user registration.

You click register, you get the popup that asks for username & email.

You type both in, click register - then you get the 'ajax waiting' rotating line circle - and it stay there forever.

The error in IE is:
Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; InfoPath.2)

However, you do recieve the registration email and it works fine - that one page just stays 'waiting' forever, or until you click the X on the box to make it go away.

Hello,

On the widget that appears on the front-end, I would like to either disable the "Register" link or make it so when someone clicks on it... it causes the user to navigate to that page.

I have a custom registration form I need to utilize, so the pop-up box that appears when clicking on the "register" link won't work for me.

I tried looking at all the code, and changing options in the admin but I can not seem to find what generates the "register" link so I can make it a normal link and not a pop-up.

Is this possible?

Thank you in advance.

Question about the plugin:

When I am logged in (as an admin), the widget gives me a button to access the Blog Admin. However, this is redirecting me to mysite.com/wp-admin; because this is my sites URL. However, wordpress allows you to run your blog from the root directory while keeping WP files in a subdirectory; in this case, mysite.com/wordpress.

Is there somewhere in the code where I can change the URL target from mysite.com/wp-admin to mysite.com/wordpress/wp-admin?

Thanks.

Yes, I agree that it's not very clear that it'll send you an email again. It does say it but it's pretty bare and easy to miss in my opinion.

Thanks for your response. I continued doing a lot of research and learned about the whole WP password recovery mechanism. I had a problem with a few subscribers getting caught in password reset loops by getting the first pw reset email, clicking the link and going to the wp-login page, and then clicking the password reset link there. I was able to address the issue by altering the text of the initial password reset email to actually EXPLAIN how the password reset works, something WP fails to do. (for anyone reading this with similar problems, the text can be customized in wp-login.php)

As for the JS overlay script, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I'll take a look at it!

Yes, I agree, there could be a way of avoiding the password reset page. Currently the plugin literally "plugs in" to the worpress password recovery mechanism, so lwa goes as far as passing on the username or email to recover. We'll look into that when we have time and eventually implement that in a future version.

About the popup, the background is set by the javascript overlay class, it would require some javascript tweaks, I'd imagine there's a parameter that can be passed onto the overlay.

I'm currently using WP 3.0.1 and Login With Ajax Version 3.0b2.

My first question is regarding password resets. In running some testing today, I noticed that when you reset your password, subscribers are receiving two emails. This first one reads:

"Someone has asked to reset the password for the following site and username.

http://siteurl

Username:

To reset your password visit the following address, otherwise just ignore this email and nothing will happen."

And then a second email is received later, that actually contains the new generated password.

Is there any way to avoid this confusion? The first email is not only completely unnecessary, but it directs the user to the wp-admin page, and I've gone to great lengths to avoid showing users the WP backend of the site. I did see someone on this forum posted about that wp-admin link, but apparently solved the issue on his own, and never posted how he did it.

My other question is regarding the registration popup, I was able to customize the .css for the popup box itself to go along with my theme, however is there anyway to customize the color of the white/light gray background for the entire page itself? I have a dark themed page and that's kind of jarring, couldn't find any references to that in the .css.

Thanks so much in advanced,
Alan

I installed the plug-in, and when I enter a username and the password from one of the users I created for the Wordpress site, I just get the spooling icon? It doesn't go anywhere.

I would love to use this to direct users the the STORE area that is suppose to be for retailers only on this site.
http://www.jkherman.com/infinity

I would use a page restrict for all the pages on the store area, unless there is a better way? But just curious on how to get this so it actually logs me into the site. I have the redirect going to my main website. I guess I'm pretty confused!

Thanks.
